What XRate is
XRate aggregates commercial insurance carrier rate filings from state departments of insurance (via SERFF) and surfaces them in a single, filterable feed. Instead of monitoring state filing portals one by one, you can see every rate change, new program, market exit, and underwriting revision in the lines and territories you care about, with an impact score and a directional read on each filing.
You'll find XRate in the top navigation of your dashboard. The current counter next to the XRate tab shows how many new filings have landed since your last visit.
Using the filters
The Filters panel on the left side of the XRate page is where most of your time will be spent. All seven filters combine (AND), so adding filters narrows the results. Clear a filter by selecting the empty option or clicking the X next to a selected value.

Tip: Start broad (State + Type of Insurance), then layer in Impact and Filing Effect once you know what kind of activity you're hunting for. Saved filter combinations are the fastest way to turn XRate into a daily habit.
Reading the results
Filings that match your filters appear in the results table to the right of the filters panel.

| Status Date | The date the filing reached its current status (e.g. Approved, Pending, Withdrawn). |
| State | The state the filing applies to. |
| Carrier / Product | The carrier entity and the product name or program the filing covers. |
| Rate | The rate change the filing produces, where applicable (e.g. +4.8%). |
| Impact | Our 1-5 impact score for how consequential the filing is. |
New filings since your last session are flagged with a NEW badge. The header above the table also shows how many total new filings are available and your Detail View usage for the month.
Opening a Filing Detail
Click any row in the results table to open the Filing Details panel. This is the in-depth view: effective dates, filed vs. approved rate, SERFF tracking number, a plain-English summary of what the carrier is doing, and our notes on sentiment and impact.
Search Prospects: From inside Filing Details, the Search Prospects action pivots directly into your book or prospect list to find clients and prospects affected by the filing (same state, same TOI, and carrier match where applicable). This is the fastest way to turn a filing into a call list.
Detail View limits: Detail Views are metered monthly at your plan's cap (shown in the top of the page as "X/20 Detail Views Used This Month" on the default plan). Browsing the results list and filtering does not consume views; only opening Filing Details does.
A suggested workflow
Set your baseline filters once: your licensed States and the Types of Insurance you write. Save them.
Check the New counter in the nav each morning. Anything above 0 means filings have landed since your last session.
Layer Impact 4-5 on top of your saved filters to surface only high-consequence filings.
Open Detail Views selectively. Use Sentiment to decide where to spend them: Defensive filings on incumbents in your book, Offensive filings from carriers you could move business to.
From Filing Details, use Search Prospects to jump straight to the affected accounts.
Use cases
1. Defensive retention: get ahead of a rate shock on your book
You write Workers' Comp in Massachusetts and your largest carrier on that book files a +9.8% rate change, approved yesterday.
Filter: State = MA, TOI = 16.0 Workers' Comp, Filing Effect = Rate Change, Impact = 4-5.
You spot the filing at the top of your feed and open the Filing Details panel.
You use Search Prospects to pull every policy on that carrier with an upcoming renewal in the next 90 days.
You reach out to those insureds before the renewal hits, positioning alternatives and protecting the account. You walk into the renewal conversation already informed - the insured doesn't.
2. Offensive growth: capitalize on a carrier leaving a market
A regional carrier files a Market Exit on Commercial Property in Texas. Brokers in that market will be scrambling to place the non-renewing book.
Filter: State = TX, TOI = 01.0001 Commercial Property, Filing Effect = Market Exit.
Open the Filing Details to confirm the effective date and scope of the exit.
Pivot into LeadGen or LossRunner to identify accounts currently placed with the exiting carrier.
Run a targeted outreach campaign before the non-renewal letters go out, offering to quote the book with carriers that are still writing in TX.
Both plays turn what used to be a reactive conversation - "my rates went up, what happened?" - into a proactive one where you're the agent who saw it coming.
